Summer Camp

Right now I am packing for summer camp. We are taking out students to Orange Beach AL. for Wild Week. I hate to pack, but am really excited to hang out with the students and connect with God together. I don’t know if I will have internet connection but we would totally appreciate your prayers.

To be honest, there are a lot of things to pray for. If you would, just post a short prayer on here for what ever God lays on your heart for our group!

I will try to post if I can. It’s going to be soooooo rad . . . . can’t wait!!

    TUESDAY MORNING

    Long first 24 hours!!!!! We got here safely, students are excited, condos are awesome, worship yesterday was powerful . . . Bus Driver, cranky and tired, Leaders, tired but servants.

    We had 15+ decisions last night. Several of them Salvations. I will be spending personal time with each to talk through what God was saying to them and sort through what decision they are making so they can understand and have confidence in our Loving God.

    Please pray for our Bus Driver. I don’t think He understand all that is happening this week. I am going to see if he would join us for one or two of the services.

    Pray for clarity and understanding! At camp emotions can run high. I really want students to listen to God; and to know/understand what decision they need to make when it comes to their relationship with the Lord!

    Pray for Safety, the ocean is right out our door and we will be on the beach every afternoon from 1:00-4:00.

    We’re praying that the Lord will move powerfully in our kids this week. This verse was on my heart today in that I pray that they stay focused on things of God this week and can keep out the distractions.

    WEDNESDAY MORNING

    Yesterday was soooo good. God is really moving among our students convicting them of sin and drawing them close to Him. Our students are listening and responding. We are in the process of teaching them now how to repent and turn from the things that keep them from God. Many of them need to spend some time a lone with God confessing the sin that is keeping them trapped and causing them to question their faith. Salvation and Repentance are very different bu similar responses to the Holy Spirits conviction of Sin.

    Salvation is a one time deal! When you ask God to be the Lord and Savior of your life(Rom 10:9-10), He seals you with the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t mean you will be perfect! It simply means that you have a relationship with God, you have been adopted as His son/daughter, you have been forgiven of past, present, and future sins through what Jesus did on the Cross and that you will spend eternity in Heaven with the Father. You did nothing to earn it, therefor what can you do to loose it (Eph. 2:8-9)?

    Repentance is a continual thing. At Salvation, when you realized you needed a Savior, you should have confessed that you were a sinner (Rom. 3:23) and repented from sin (Rom 6:23; Rom 10:9-10). Repentance means to turn and go the opposite way of sin. Repentance should be the daily practice of every Christian. You Christians should be Confessing their sins, Repenting from them, Asking God to Forgive, and Growing more like Him everyday. It is a process, but everyday you are either becoming more like God, or drifting further away from God, thus becoming “luke warm” or more like the world.

    This is the reality that are students are being faced with this week. We have seen God break hearts, call many to salvation, and now teaching them about repentance. It truly is a blessing to be able to help students understand and seek the Lord.

    Many have asked if they could be Baptized in the ocean this week, so on Thursday we are going to baptize students. This will be the first time I have done this a camp, but here is what we have told them.

    1. You have to have trusted Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior.
    2. You have to have your parents permission.
    3. You have to be baptized again at Home so Parents, Family and Friends can witness and be a part of this special moment in your life.

    Its going to be awesome. We are going to video each baptism and put it on the DVD also.

    Hi, Dan! I am so glad God is moving powerfully! It is exciting that baptism is going to occur! While every parent would like to be physically present, baptism should not be delayed.

    “As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.” Acts 8:36-38 (NLT)

    Water is literally right outside your door! Do not hesitate!

    Praying Proverbs 1:7-9 for our youth this morning. To quote the editorial text from my Life Application Bible regarding these verses, “The foundation of knowledge is to fear the Lord–to honor and respect God, to live in awe of his power, and to obey his Word.” I’m praying now that each and everyone of the youth attending Wild Week will come away with this foundational truth engraved in their hearts.

    How many times do we as parents see our children knowing “about” God and accept that as being the same as “knowing” God? The enemy wants us (and them) to believe that their faithful church attendance and service is enough to know Him. May God open our eyes to the difference so we can continually pray for our children to REALLY know God and “live in awe of his power”.

    Father God, thank you for this opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move throughout these kids’ lives. You are always intentional in your plans, and we trust that the impact you are making on these kids, will be life-long and awesome in furthering your kingdom. Jesus please protect each and every one of them, and give them incredible boldness as they return to their schools and families to speak forth the lessons they are learning. We realize we are living in very difficult times for kids, as the world and enemy constantly battles to pull them away from what you want but You are more powerful, and your will-WILL prevail. So we ask in your name to help them out during times of weakness and temptation. We Love You God. In your Blessed Son’s name, Amen.

    I am so excited that our students are meeting with God. I am praying that they will just allow themselves to hear from God and experience true worship. When I heard that you all will be baptizing in the ocean I thought to myself, what a beautiful picture. To show your obedience to him in his beautiful creation. I pray for saftely and relationships . Hang in there honey.

    THURSDAY MORNING

    Yesterday was awesome! We had a great morning learning about our witness followed by a great lunch, with probably the best ocean swimming I have ever experienced. We had a blast because the waves were a little bigger yesterday.

    Last night, we took everyone to Lamberts (home of the throwed role). Great Food and a fun time! After Lamberts we hurried back to the church for the evening worship service, which consisted of participating in the Lords Supper.

    Students were challenged to examine themselves before they took the supper and get their heart right with God and others first. This meant some students had to call home and talk to Mom’s and Dad’s, other family members,or friends. They also wrote down things that were keeping them from living pure lives so it could be nailed to the cross.

    At the end of the service the cross was full of little pieces of paper that contained the things keep us from living pure lives, and keep us trapped in sin.

    Today, we expect another great day. This is the last full day before we pack up to leave tomorrow morning. Today we will baptize students around 1:30pm in the ocean. It is going to be so awesome and the students are so excited!!!! We will video each baptism.

    Please continue to pray for us. God has done a lot in a short week, but the reality is we have to go home. Some of these students have relationships that they have been convicted of this week and they have to go back and face them. I just pray that they don’t fall back into the same habits and lifestyle they had, no matter how good or bad, before they came to camp.

    I PRAY THAT THEY DON’T LEAVE WITH JUST A JESUS EXPERIENCE, BUT THEY LEAVE WITH JESUS!! I PRAY THAT HE IMPACTS THEIR LIFE JUST AS MUCH AT HOME AS HE HAS HERE!

    FRIDAY MORNING

    Its has truly been an Amazing Week. We have had 25 public decisions for Christ this week. God has met with us, convicted us of sin, and brought us to repentance and salvation. We had 19 students accept Christ as their Lord and Savior this week and 6 students repent of things that have caused them to drift away for the Lord.

    Wild Week truly has blessed our group and allowed us to encounter the presence of God. We had several Baptisms yesterday afternoon. AWESOME!! I also experienced my first Baptism in the Ocean at night.

    Last night one of the students we have been praying for now or about 6 months accepted Christ and wanted to be baptized. It was an very special moment. So at 10:45 last night, we went out into the ocean and Baptized Chris A.

    We ended the night with some cupcakes and praise and worship led by Josh T., Camden B., and Christian H. Those guys did awesome!

    God has truly met with us. I am excited and fearful of what happens next. My prayer is that we wouldn’t leave Jesus here just to be an experience. But that we would allow Him to continue to teach and use us to reach out to other!

    We have a long bus ride home! Please pray for our safety.

    Jesus you are awesome!!!!

    Dan,
    I know i have already thanked you. But that was over a text and it wasnt as good as i hoped.
    You made Wild Week such a wonderful experience. From baggin on people for putting mayo on their hotdogs, to capturing jellyfish in bottles and giving boys girls names. It was a wonderful time that i will never forget and i hope to enjoy every year. Ever since David left and God sent you to teach us, i have been changed. You have made a huge impact in my life, and i hope that you will stay with us for a very long time. You are amazing Dan…
