A San Diego pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a county official and warned they will face escalating fines if they continue to hold Bible studies in their home. The couple, whose names are being withheld until a demand letter can be filed on their behalf, told their attorney a county government employee knocked on their door on Good Friday, asking a litany of questions about their Tuesday night Bible studies, which are attended by approximately 15 people. Incredible. Or not–it is Kalifornia we’re talking about here.
The author later writes that if Christians in America aren’t allowed to meet in homes, we will be worse off than China. The Chinese church daily adds tens of thousands of new believers, so one might say that we are already a good deal worse off than China. This statement seems to imply (though I’m sure it wasn’t the author’s intent) that Chinese Christians are permitted to meet in homes. This is not the case. They are beaten, imprisoned, fined, dismissed from employment, kidnapped, tortured, and killed. And with all this, they’re adding tens of thousands of new believers daily!
Whatever it takes, may we be as well off as China!
